Well, it depends. If you’re not at all interested in digital marketing, or believe that search engine optimization (SEO) is rocket science and only highly paid agencies can get it done right, then probably not. However, if you’re in charge of getting your website to rank well in online searches for your target keywords and phrases and you’re interested and open to learning how to do it and have fun with it, then yes—SEO training is right for you.
Digital marketing (SEO, social media, content marketing, etc.) training can provide you with all the knowledge you will need to improve your overall online marketing strategy. There are ton’s of great resources available on the web that will teach you how to get your website listed in the best possible position in online searches. In fact, in early 2014 I had the opportunity to present an hour long webinar entitled “An Introduction to Content Marketing, SEO and Social Media Marketing” with content marketing authority Laura Lear. I came across a YouTube video of a keynote speech that she gave on this topic. Right after watching the video, I reached out to her and she immediately agreed to present this webinar together with me. I think you’ll enjoy watching the replay of this session.
There are a numerous SEO training courses available nowadays, ranging from an hour long intro session, to half-day, full-day or even week-long workshops. Boulder SEO Marketing offers a variety of SEO training classes and workshops in Denver, Boulder, around the U.S. and also online. So What Exactly Is Search Engine Optimization?
Search engine optimization is a process by which you enable the search engine (For example: Google, Bing, Yahoo!, etc.) to see the necessary bits on your website in order to gain the highest rankings for your researched target SEO keywords and phrases. When you type in a query into Google, the search engine giant will choose which websites are deemed most appropriate to return in its SERPs (search engine results pages) based on an algorithm that includes 200+ ranking signals. The more often a particular page is viewed, and the longer people actually stay on the page, the higher the chance that it will continue to rank well with the search engines. According to a study entitled “The Value of Google Result Positioning” by Chitika, over 75% of all clicks go to the first 5 search results displayed on Google. The study also reveals that most people will not search past the first page.
Should I Keep SEO In-house Or Outsource It To An Agency?
Without search engine optimization, or unless your brand is well-known, your website can sit unseen because there is nothing to lead a viewer to your pages. SEO is important but it is a delicate balance of knowing how much to do, and when to stop. If optimization is done properly, your website can enjoy high rankings and top positions for your target SEO keywords on search engines. If you don’t know how to structure your page so that a search engine can easily crawl it, you’re time and money can be wasted. You either need to become trained to use search engine optimization, or you need to seek out professionals with a proven record for optimizing websites that have worked well for other businesses. Before engaging with an SEO agency, make sure to check references or simply check how well their website ranks for their own target SEO keywords. Do a Google search for “seo agency boulder” or “seo training denver” and you’ll see what I mean.
