And just when you thought you were done updating all of your Google business listings, Google launches “Google My Business”. Previously, in order for a business to be listed on Google, business owners had to manage their pages from multiple sources including the likes of Google Plus and Google Places for Business.
What Exactly is Google My Business?
The best feature about this recent change is the ability to have all of your content under one roof. Google My Business allows for business owners and marketers to directly connect all of their information from one free dashboard. Account holders can:
- Upload photos of their business
- Integrate and manage their paid search campaigns
- Interact with their customers through Google Reviews and Google+
- Optimize local business listings information for maps, Google+, and search
How do I Use Google My Business for Local SEO?
Glad you asked! From a local SEO management standpoint, the previous set up of having to manage multiple listings on Google meant that you had spend more time managing multiple listing, create and optimizing content for each channel, etc. etc. Now that everything is accessible from one dashboard and place, you’ll hopefully have a few extra minutes each day to enjoy a coffee, hang out with the family or take the dog on a longer walk. Another benefit of this new platform is the management of consumer reviews on your page. You are now able to manage reviews on this new platform and you can respond to your customers more promptly through the integration and Google+. You can even start a Google Hangout to further connect and interact with your customers.

Like it or not, but you need to update or claim your Google My Business listing right away. Considering that Google has now made it easier for businesses to use Google Plus, this could mean that even more people will join this online community and you have a better chance of engaging with your customers and potential customers through this new online platform.
