Boost Local SEO: Get Reviews Faster with QR Codes | Friday SEO Tip

Hello and happy Friday! Chris Raulf here, local SEO expert and AI SEO expert. I’m the founder of Boulder SEO Marketing—a super hyper-focused AI and local SEO company.

Today I want to talk about something really important for local businesses. Even if you don’t have time to do search engine optimization yourself, this is something you can absolutely do immediately.

The Holiday Inn Express Inspiration

Earlier this week, my wife and I visited one of our kids in Omaha, Nebraska. One of the kids is studying there and goes to college. We stayed at the Holiday Inn Express in Omaha, and guess what? I loved what I saw.

In the elevator, they had an obvious sign: “Scan me, leave us a review for our Google Business Profile.”

Brilliant. Simple. Effective.

In this Friday SEO tip, I want to show you how to create a QR code that takes people straight to your Google Business Profile, where they can leave a review. Then I’ll also show you how to generate QR codes very easily using Chrome. Watch the video above to learn more.

Why Google Reviews Are Critical

Let me tell you about the importance of getting reviews for your local business.

Search “Denver SEO” – which is obviously a very important keyword for us. You’ve got the sponsored results up here. They pay a lot of money to get people to their website. Then you see the local map pack.

Look at that: BSM Denver SEO Company—that is us. We have 55 legit reviews. This definitely helps us get into the map pack, which gets us a lot of clients because many people find us this way.

Reviews are among the most powerful ranking factors in local search. They build trust, improve visibility, and drive more customers to your business.

How to Get Your Google Review QR Code

Let me show you how to grab that QR code. You can either go to your Google Business Profile dashboard or just search for your business. Let’s say “SEO Agency Boulder.”

Ideally, you’re also going to rank in the map pack here. This is our Boulder office.

Here’s the step-by-step process:

Step 1: Click on Your Listing: Find your business in the map pack and click on it.

Step 2: Click on Reviews: Once your profile opens, click on the “Reviews” section.

Step 3: Click “Manage Reviews”: This takes you to the review management area.

Step 4: Click “Get More Reviews”: This is where the magic happens.

Step 5: Download Your QR Code: Ta-da! Here is your QR code. You can now download it (save image as), copy the image, and create a beautiful flyer like the Holiday Inn Express did in Omaha.

How to Use Your QR Code

Put it up where it’s very visible:

  • If you have a storefront, put it near the register
  • In your waiting area or lobby
  • On your counter, where customers check out
  • In an elevator, if you have them
  • Anywhere customers spend time

Tell them: “Quickly scan this code with your phone!” All they have to do is point their phone camera at the QR code. That will open the link where people can easily leave a review for your business.

Even if you don’t do anything else with search engine optimization for your local business, this is an absolute gold mine. Something you can implement immediately. Today.

Create QR Codes for Any Page

Let me quickly show you how to create a QR code for any page that you open in your browser. In this case, I’ll show you how to use Google Chrome.

The Simple Process:

  1. Go to a page you want to create a QR code for
  2. Click the three dots in the upper-right corner
  3. Go to “Cast, Save and Share”
  4. Click “Create QR Code”
  5. Ta-da! Magic, right?
  6. Download or copy it

Now you have a QR code for anything on your website. You can easily create QR codes and put them anywhere:

  • On your vehicle, if you’re a plumber or HVAC specialist company
  • On your business cards
  • In your email signature
  • On printed marketing materials
  • At trade show booths

It’s going to make it so easy for people to whip out their pocket computer. If they need your services, they can quickly scan that code.

Create a QR code for your contact information. Create one for your services page. Create one for your special offers.

It’s going to make it so easy for people not to have to memorize your company name, your URL, etc.

The Easiest Local SEO Strategy Ever

This is something you can implement right away. No technical skills required. No SEO expertise needed. Just:

  1. Get your Google review QR code
  2. Create a simple flyer or sign
  3. Put it where customers can see it
  4. Watch the reviews roll in

Those reviews will help you rank higher in the local map pack. Higher rankings mean more visibility. More visibility means more customers.
