Take Advantage of Google Merchant Center Next & More
Since there won’t be a Friday SEO Tip next week—Happy Thanksgiving to those who celebrate it!—this week’s email and video are longer than usual. But if you bear with me, I promise it will be worth it!
Today, I primarily want to talk about Google’s Merchant Center Next. Check out the video to learn why using this platform is crucial if you sell products in-store or online:
In the video, I walk you through using Merchant Center Next. If you’re hoping to boost sales on Black Friday, you should start using it immediately. It’s a really cool interface that allows you to add all kinds of helpful information, from shipping details to return policies. It also lets you communicate directly with Google, so if you do a good job, you can get your products to rank higher.
I also talk about Google’s new Search Generative Experience in the video. I predict it will roll out globally by early 2024, which means SEO as we know it is going to change dramatically. Once SGE is up and running, there will be very few reasons to actually click on the sites that appear in the search results. Instead, with SGE’s interactive features, Google will keep most users on their site for most queries. Consequently, Search Engine Land predicts clickthrough rates will drop significantly for almost everyone.
If you optimize your pages with SGE in mind, though, you can increase the chance that people will still navigate to your site when they want more information on the subject they’re searching. We recently held a 45-minute webinar on what I like to call “The New SEO.” You can watch it in its entirety here.
Lastly, I want to invite you to our upcoming workshop. On Wednesday, December 13th, at 10 a.m. MDT, we’ll be hosting another online SEO course. During this free, two-hour workshop, we’ll dissect SGE and how “The New SEO” can help you prepare your site for the future of search. Click here to register!
