Urgent SEO Update: Will Your Site Be Mobile-Ready by July 5th?
Hello from beautiful Grand Junction, Colorado! I’ve been doing a bit of hiking, and while it was hard to come back inside, I had to take a break to record this video for you. It’s short and sweet, but it’s about an important update that’s right around the corner. Check it out above.
In the video above, I talk about the importance of mobile indexing. If your site isn’t accessible on mobile devices, you’re going to want to change that ASAP. Google has moved over to mobile indexing only. This process started in 2016 and officially concludes on July 5. What does this mean? Basically, Google is not going to index websites that do not work on mobile devices after July 5, 2024. This is critically important from an SEO standpoint because if your site is not indexed, it cannot appear in search results.
If you’re not sure how well your site performs on mobile devices—or if it even does—plug the URL into mobiReady. You can also check Google Search Console after the fact. If you notice a drop in traffic corresponding to July 5, poor mobile performance may be to blame.
