Chris Raulf is the Founder and CEO of Boulder SEO Marketing, bringing nearly 30 years of search expertise to his role as an internationally recognized AI and SEO thought leader. His journey into SEO began before Google was even called Google, back when the search engine was still named BackRub. Working for a U.S. financial corporation in their Zurich office, Chris noticed they’d hard-coded German content into images. That simple observation sparked a fascination: how could search engines understand content they couldn’t read? That question launched a career.
Originally from Basel, Switzerland, Chris moved to Boulder, Colorado, in 1996 and never looked back. He founded Boulder SEO Marketing in 2009 after a horoscope told him to make a big change or regret it forever. He wrote his resignation letter sitting in a towel after stepping out of the shower. With just two months of savings, he was profitable within six weeks.
Today, Chris leads a team of approximately 20 people in the US and other parts of the world. His daily work spans strategic client consultations, thought leadership content, speaking engagements, and pioneering AI integration. He developed BSM Copilot, the company’s proprietary AI tool built through six days of intensive prompt engineering. The result compresses weeks of research into a rapid deployment.
His signature methodology, Micro SEO Strategies℠, emerged from a crisis. When a 2021 algorithm update wiped out 80% of BSM’s organic traffic, Chris spent a weekend developing the framework that now drives the agency’s success. His philosophy remains constant: human-driven, AI-assisted.
Beyond client work, Chris produces the AI SEO Insighter podcast, where he interviews industry experts getting real results with AI. The show cuts through hype to deliver actionable strategies for marketing professionals, business owners, and agency leaders navigating AI’s impact on search. He also publishes AI SEO Tips on his personal channel, showcasing tools, methodologies, and live demonstrations of cutting-edge techniques.
Chris holds the role of SE Ranking Brand Ambassador and teaches at the University of Strasbourg’s TCLoc Master’s Program. He speaks globally at conferences, including DigiMarCon and GALA Conference Berlin, and hosts the quarterly AI SEO & GEO Online Summit.
Based in Boulder, Chris balances work with adventure. He climbed Kilimanjaro in 2025, battling severe altitude sickness but reaching the summit.
