Want to Boost Your SEO ROI? Here's How to Calculate It
Today, I want to share a powerful new tool with you that can calculate the potential return on investment (ROI) for your search engine optimization (SEO) efforts—and it’s launching soon on BSM’s website!
This tool allows you to evaluate your SEO ROI on a page-by-page basis, helping you focus your efforts where they matter most.
But rather than just tell you about it, I want to show you how it works. Check out the video above to see the tool in action and learn how it can help you optimize your site.
Focus on Micro SEO
Every Micro-SEO Strategy℠ starts with identifying what we call “low-hanging fruit” opportunities for SEO. Instead of trying to optimize an entire website (which takes time!), we focus on specific pages that are already performing well but could do better. These are typically pages that rank on page 2 or 3 of Google for your target keywords.
So, how do we find these pages? We use the Competitive Research tool from SE Ranking, which shows you which keywords your site is ranking for, their positions, and monthly search volume. (You can sign up for a free trial here!) Once you know which pages are performing well but could be improved, the fun begins.
Case Study: SEO Price Guide
In the video, I walk through how one of our pages—SEO Costs in 2024—ranks in Google. It’s currently on page 2 (position 26). With a little optimization, we could bring it to page 1, increasing traffic and leads.
Here’s what I did to calculate its potential:
I ran the page through the tool in SE Ranking to pull a list of all the keywords it’s ranking for.
I plugged those keywords into our ROI calculator and looked at key metrics, like monthly search volume (how many people could visit) and current average position (where the page is ranking today).
Based on these metrics, I calculated how much better we could do by improving the page’s position.
For example, if we were able to move the page from position 26 to position 8, we’d see a click-through rate (CTR) of 3.1%—a major boost in traffic. If we took it one step further to position 7, that CTR could jump to 3.6%, bringing in about 1,100 visitors per month.
The Power of Conversion
Now, let’s add another layer: conversion. Assuming we convert 3% of visitors into leads (a common industry standard), that’s 35 leads a month. If our closing rate is 20%, we’d be looking at 7 new clients each month.
With an average monthly SEO package priced at $2,000, that’s an extra $14,000 in revenue every month—just from improving the ranking of one page.
