Do You Know the Best Practices for Internal Linking?
Martin Splitt of Google’s Search Relations team posted a video earlier this week on internal linking. In it, he explains why internal links are important and how you should use HTML references. He also talks about proper anchor text application, which is essential for giving Google the information it needs to interpret your content accurately. You can watch the entire video here. As for my summary, check out the video above (and here’s the link to the page I reference in the video).
On another note, I wanted to invite you to an upcoming webinar that Daniel Burns and I will be hosting. We’ll be talking about tailoring BSM’s proprietary Micro-SEO Strategies℠ for tech brands. “Transitioning to Google’s New Algorithm: SEO Hacks for Tech Brands” will be on August 15 at 9 a.m. PDT. Register here!
I’m also speaking at SearchCon 2024, which will be at the Renaissance Boulder Flatiron Hotel on September 12 and 13. I’ll be sharing strategies on optimizing your site for AI Overviews. Learn more here.
Still can’t get enough SEO? BSM’s next webinar will be on Wednesday, October 2, 2024, from 9:30 to 10:30 a.m. MDT. During the complimentary workshop, called “Adapt or Fall Behind: Leveraging Google AI Overviews for Success,” I’ll be sharing the latest updates on optimizing your site for the current and future state of the SERPs. Register here!
Last but not least, I wanted to share a nifty tool that makes it easier to control the information about you online. If you go to myactivity.google.com, you can set up alerts that let you know where various personal details are published, like your email address. You can then request removal as needed to protect your privacy.
