How SGE Is Already Affecting 6 out of 10 Keywords—and How to Handle the Shakeup

Today, I’d like to share insights from a recent study conducted by SE Ranking, a trusted platform we love at BSM for its ingenious SEO tools.

As the founder of Boulder SEO Marketing (BSM), I rely on SE Ranking for invaluable insights that help us shape and execute our proprietary Micro-SEO Strategies. In the video above, I delve into SE Ranking’s latest research, which focused on the anticipated impact of Google’s emerging Search Generative Experience (SGE).

Google’s SGE will be rolled out globally very soon, and the shift is going to impact rankings and traffic across the board. When doing searches, many of us are already triggering SGE automatically, and it’s easy to imagine how its widespread application is going to alter the search landscape dramatically.

The most eye-opening aspect of SE Ranking’s analysis is that a staggering 64% of the keywords they examined now prompt an SGE answer or offer the option to generate one. What does this mean for SEO? Simply put, if users find the answers they need directly on the search engine results pages (SERPs), organic search traffic is going to take a nosedive for virtually everyone in the coming months.

For those of us who rely on web traffic for leads, now is the time to adapt. At BSM, we’ve devised an approach for mastering SGE, and we’re going to explain how it works in our upcoming webinar. On Wednesday, June 19, 2024, from 11:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. EDT, we’ll be hosting an online workshop that focuses on optimizing for SGE. Space is limited, so register now for $149!

If you want some help with your strategy in the meantime, check out the comprehensive guide we just published on local SEO. In it, we explain how to implement SEO strategies for brick-and-mortar businesses.

On a final note, I just wanted to say that as we brace for the global rollout of SGE, it’s understandable to feel nervous, especially if you’ve invested heavily in traditional SEO. Rest assured, this is poised to be one of the most significant shifts in search history. Thankfully, BSM has been in the game for 15 years, so we’re no strangers to adapting. It’s not an exaggeration to say Google changes the rulebook every single day. I invite you to approach this transition with us through the lens of opportunity. We’ll navigate these changes together and emerge stronger than ever.
