How to Reduce Your Bounce Rate and Boost Conversions
Today I want to talk about bounce rate. Check out the video above to learn what it is and why it matters.
Bounce rate refers to the percentage of visitors who leave your site after viewing a single page. From a marketing perspective, you want someone to poke around for a bit and—ideally—take an action, so they convert from a site visitor to a potential lead to an eventual customer.
So, what is a good bounce rate? Well, it really depends, but the lower, the better. If you have a 75% bounce rate, for example, that means most people who end up on your site don’t stick around. If, on the other hand, your bounce rate is 25%, that means 3 out of 4 visitors are sticking around. And the longer you have their attention, the easier it will be to get them to convert. (Need some actionable tips? Here’s a great piece on reducing bounce rate.)
If you want to learn more about reducing your bounce rate and converting visitors into customers, I’ve got good news. (Warning: Shameless plug ahead!) On August 28 at 10 a.m. MT, I’ll be co-presenting a free webinar with Lead Conversion Specialist Connor Dube. I’m going to explain how to get people to your site through Google Search, and then Connor will explain how to use cutting-edge technology to convert those visitors into customers. If that’s something you’re interested in, definitely join us! You can learn more here.
On another note, I’m thrilled to announce I’ll be speaking at SearchCon 2024 next month. It will be right outside of Boulder on September 12 and 13, so if you’re in the area, come check it out. You’ll get to hear from some of the best and brightest in the industry. (And use our promo code “BSMPROMO” to get $60 off the registration fee!)
Lastly, I want to remind you that Google’s August core algorithm update is still rolling out, so don’t freak out if you see your traffic dip (and don’t get too excited if you see it spike). It’s going to take several weeks for things to level off, so it will be a while before we know how the updates will affect traffic in the long run.
