The interview opened with a question about the start of his story. Chris told the magazine he got into search engine optimization in the late 90s when Google was still in its infancy. At the time, people primarily used search engines like Yahoo! Search and Alta Vista.
Chris said he realized the Internet wouldn’t disappear, and every business would eventually have a website. He also realized there would be immense competition on the search engine results pages, and companies would need help appearing above their competitors. With that in mind, he decided to pivot and devote his career to SEO.
Chris shared some of the hurdles he’s faced since founding Boulder SEO Marketing in 2009 and how he overcame them. He also offered advice for ambitious entrepreneurs who are just starting out.
