[Social Media Training] Facebook Marketing Tips for Small and Medium-Sized Business

Do you have a social media strategy in place for your business? It can be imperative to reach new customers and to grow your sales. If you’ve done your customer research and discovered that Facebook is one of the primary social media channels that your potential customers use, Facebook ads may be a great option for you to target these customers. Even though Facebook ads aren’t free, with over 2 billion monthly active users on Facebook, ads may offer an affordable way to expand your reach and get you in front of your target audience.

Rachel Dankof, Social Media Manager at SocialSEO, recently joined me in presenting a social media marketing webinar. We shared real customer success stories and a 6-step process for creating an effective social media strategy. You’ll also learn about social media advertising strategies in the hour-long webinar recording:

Don’t have time to watch the webinar? No problem; here are three tips for getting the most out of your Facebook ads.

1. Pinpoint Your Goals

Before placing your ad on Facebook, you need to ask yourself, what are your goals? Are you trying to grow followers? Do you have an upcoming event you want to promote? Or perhaps you’re trying to increase brand awareness. In any case, you must have clear goals in mind so that you can create a base for the effectiveness of your ads later on in your campaign. It’s also helpful to add target data to your goals, such as you want to increase the number of shares by 25%. Then when you’ve reviewed the data that Facebook provides, you can see how you’re really doing compared to what your goals are and adjust as needed.

2. Think Local & Target a Specific Audience

Facebook is a great place where you can build your marketing strategy with a local focus. As a small business, marketing is all about keeping users engaged with specific local content. Facebook ads allow you to execute a campaign based on demographics, location, interests and more. Knowing your demographic is critical to running a successful Facebook ad campaign.

3. Selecting Push Posts Options

When you place an ad on Facebook, you have a couple of options to push posts. One option is the promoted post option. Promoted posts allow you to create a post and simply target your audience, enter your overall budget and select your bidding options for the promotion. You can also choose to boost your posts. With this option, you can push your post to people who like your page or you can target who your posts go to and set your budget. Both of these options allow you to promote your posts.

And More

These are only three tips for marketing your business through Facebook ads. Of course, there are many other options for Facebook ads such as selecting where your ad will be placed and what type of content you want to use. Also, Facebook has the capability to capture data about your ad so you can track how well it’s doing.

Social Media Training

As I mentioned earlier, having a solid social media strategy for your business is imperative. Unfortunately, many small and medium-sized businesses treat it as an afterthought because it’s yet another thing to do. Oftentimes they lack the knowledge, time, and/or resources to implement a winning strategy.
