This SEO “Hack” Still Works—And Google Loves It | Friday SEO Tip

Today, I’m sharing how to use LinkedIn as a strategic tool for building high-quality backlinks—without outreach, guest posts, or spammy tactics. Whether you’re speaking at events or engaging in your industry’s conversations, this simple strategy still works. Check out the video above to learn more.

How I Built 2 Backlinks in 10 Minutes (and Why Google Approved)

After speaking at DigiMarCon Houston 2025, I posted a recap on LinkedIn and linked to our upcoming AI and SEO webinar. That alone created a clean backlink from LinkedIn to our site.

Then, I added a sincere comment to a fellow panelist’s recap post, thanking her and again linking to the webinar—another relevant, earned backlink.

Why This Still Works in 2025

Google still pays attention to backlinks, especially from platforms it crawls frequently and trusts. LinkedIn is one such platform.

Check your Search Console Links report; you’ll likely see LinkedIn among your top referrers. This strategy works when it’s done authentically and at the right moment.

Best Practices for This Strategy

  • Add links only when they’re truly helpful
  • Be conversational—not promotional
  • Use LinkedIn posts, comments, and event recaps as anchor moments
  • Track your clicks and engagement using UTM tags if needed
