What to Do When Pages Are Discovered but Not Indexed
Why are the tools from Google so important? Well, they make it easy to get information directly from the search engine giant itself. If you’re not taking advantage of them yet, I highly encourage you to start.
Today, I want to talk about the Pages section in Google Search Console.
Check out the video above to learn more.
Wondering why some of the pages on your site do not appear in search results, even for relevant queries? In this video featuring Martin Splitt, Search Relations Advocate, you can learn more about pages that Googlebot has discovered but not indexed.
Or maybe you’re wondering how to even determine the status of the pages on your site? Head over to Google Search Console to see which pages are not indexed. Of course, then comes the tricky part: You’ll have to determine why.
In many cases, it’s a content issue. If the copy on the page is low-quality or outdated, for example (like this article on the BSM site from 10 years ago), Google is not going to waste resources ranking it. In order to get those kinds of pages indexed again, you’ll have to revamp the content so it provides value and follows Google’s helpful content guidelines.
Before I go, I wanted to share one more free tool with you. The search engine giant just posted a video about Google Trends that contains lots of advanced tips. Definitely check it out when you have the time!
