Online SEO Training – Coming to a Browser Near You in 2017

Are you looking to learn SEO? For a good portion of 2016, I’ve been working hard on making our self-paced, non-technical, and easy-to-implement SEO training course available online. While I love teaching search engine optimization workshops in-person, many of our students have asked in the past if we can record our classes and make them available online so that they can recap the newly learned knowledge.

We’re in the process of putting the final touches on the roughly 7-hour long online training. I invite you to preview the first 10 lessons completely free of charge and I’m also sharing our process and project templates as part of the course preview.

Our SEO classes have helped companies of all sizes and from all industries implement a powerful digital marketing strategy. This is a non-technical online training and no prior SEO knowledge or coding is required. You’ll be able to implement newly learned strategies the same day. Sign up for our mailing list and be the first to know when the complete course is available.

Who is the Online SEO Course for and What Does it Cover?

Primarily geared toward small and medium-sized businesses, the course is also a great fit for larger companies, web designers, or anyone who wants to start their own digital marketing agency.

There are approximately 250 main ranking signals in Google’s algorithm and each and everyone of these signals can placed onto one of the five pillars of SEO:

1. Technical health of your website

2. Functionality of your website

3. On-page SEO

4. Off-page SEO

5. Social media marketing

The foundation of these five pillars is a high-quality content marketing strategy.

The training covers in great detail each of the five pillars and how to best address the ranking signals. You’ll also learn how to implement a powerful and search engine optimized content marketing strategy and much more.

Does My Website Need to be Optimized for Online Search?

The better your site is optimized for online search, the higher it will rank on Google and other search engines. Essentially, either you or one of your competitors will get the clicks from your potential customers. Use our complimentary SEO audit tool to see if you could benefit from optimizing your website.

What’s Your SEO Score?

Enter the URL of any landing page or blog article and see how optimized it is for one keyword or phrase.

Passion Goes A Long Way

As with most things in life, if you’re passionate about something you could achieve amazing results. The Google Analytics screenshot below shows that after implementing our methodology, one of our past students was able to increase organic search traffic from Google by over 100% in less than a year:

Don’t Try to Trick Google

As mentioned earlier, Google’s algorithm determines where your content ranks. The better you can address the 250+ main ranking signals (and an estimated 10,000 sub-ranking signals) with your digital footprint, the more successful you will be with SEO. Our online training entirely focuses on helping our students implement a winning “white hat” search engine optimization strategy that will yield results for year to come. Whatever you do, make sure to stay away from implementing “black hat” strategies. The list below comes directly from Google:

  • Automatically generated content
  • Participating in link schemes
  • Creating pages with little or no original content
  • Cloaking
  • Sneaky redirects
  • Hidden text or links
  • Doorway pages
  • Scraped content
  • Participating in affiliate programs without adding sufficient value
  • Loading pages with irrelevant keywords
  • Creating pages with malicious behavior, such as phishing or installing viruses, trojans, or other badware
  • Abusing rich snippets markup
  • Sending automated queries to Google

Change is the Only Constant Thing in Life

Heraclitus, a Greek philosopher, once said that “change is the only constant in life.” He was right back then and he is still right. Google updates its algorithm on a daily basis and unleashes major algorithm updates several times throughout the year. If you don’t adhere to Google approved SEO tactics and strategies, your site may get penalized and you could be removed from their index.

Earlier this year, I had the honor of giving a keynote presentation at the CeBIT Global Conference, Europe’s biggest digital industry conference focused on trends, innovations and technologies for professionals and society. The Rock The Blog portion of the conference, which is where I presented, was focused on trends and new topics in the area of blogging and content marketing and it included expert bloggers, marketers and PR specialists. Check out the recording of my presentation for additional insights and tips about digital marketing:
